Wear green and give to charity this International Women’s Day

The Lord Mayor’s Appeal will bring together some of Bradford’s most prominent female professionals to celebrate International Women’s Day, which falls on 8 March this year and raise money for Bradford Hospitals’ Charity.

Each year the Lord Mayor’s Appeal celebrates International Women’s Day with a different theme to raise money for its chosen charity. The Bradford Hospitals’ Charity’s BIG Neonatal Appeal will benefit this year, with a ‘green for recycling’ theme, and guests will be invited to wear something green.

Guest speakers will include:

  • Shanaz Ghulzar – visual artist and creative director for Bradford City of Culture 2025,
  • Professor Udy Archibong MBE – a professor of diversity and director for the Centre for Inclusion and Diversity at the University of Bradford,
  • Sharon Milner – Charity Director at Bradford Hospitals’ Charity,
  • Helen Love – the Lady Mayoress of Bradford.

Charity Director Sharon Milner will speak to guests about plans for Bradford Hospitals’ Charity to fund parent accommodation which will allow mums and dads of babies in the Neonatal Unit to stay overnight close to their new-borns.

Lady Mayoress Helen Love said: “I sincerely hope that lots of Bradford women will be able to join us for the afternoon to listen to the remarkable panel of speakers.”

Tickets cost £20 and include a selection of sandwiches, cakes, scones, tea, coffee and prosecco. All proceeds go to the Lord Mayor’s Appeal’s chosen charity – Bradford Hospitals’ Charity’s BIG Neonatal Appeal.
