As a beauty therapist, I often see people at their most vulnerable, not just physically, but emotionally too. While you might come to me for a facial or massage, I can often sense the weight you’re carrying beneath the surface.
And I want to say this from the heart: talking really helps. And not just once, but regularly, gently, over time.

I know that when you’re struggling with chronic stress, anxiety, or low mood, it can start to seep into every part of your life. You might be trying to keep things together, at work, at home, in your relationships, but all that effort can become exhausting. I see it on your face, in your shoulders, in your silence.
You might think a one-off counselling session will be enough to get you back on track and sometimes it might offer a brief sense of relief. But real change takes time. It takes space to untangle old patterns, to challenge thoughts you’ve carried for years, and to reconnect with parts of yourself that you’ve lost along the way.
Sometimes we don’t even realise what we’re holding onto, an old hurt, a belief that we’re not good enough, or a way of coping that no longer serves us. These things can shape how we move through the world without us even noticing.
That’s why I always encourage my clients to think about counselling as part of their ongoing self-care. The same way you come in for regular treatments to look after your skin or body, your mind and emotions need that same consistent care.
Talk therapy isn’t just for when you’re in crisis. It’s for anyone who needs a safe space to feel heard, understood, and supported. It’s about discovering who you are beyond the stress, beyond the struggle, and creating space for healing, growth and calm.
So, if you’ve been thinking about talking to someone, or if you’ve already had one session and thought “I feel a bit better” don’t stop there. Keep going. Keep talking.
You deserve to feel light again.
With care,
Prity Farooq
