BEAP successfully conducted a takeover day at the Bradford Bulls Stadium on 30 August, where 130 children and parents were invited to experience a day of rugby excitement. The event, which coincided with the Bradford Bulls’ resounding 54-0 victory over the Dewsbury Rams, was a fantastic day for our community, especially for many who were experiencing the sport for the first time.
Children had the opportunity to step onto the pitch and participate in pre-match activities, including flag-waving, and engaging in half-time fun with tackling dummy pads. The experience was further enriched by meeting the Bulls’ mascots, Bullman and Bullwoman, with the kids eagerly capturing selfies and collecting autographs from the players.
“This takeover day was a significant moment for BEAP and the families we support,” said Hiron Miah, Chairman of BEAP. “Seeing the joy on the children’s faces as they engaged with the sport and the community was truly special. Our partnership with the Bradford Bulls Foundation is crucial in providing these opportunities, and we look forward to continuing to work together to bring rugby into the lives of more young people in our community.”
Chris Chamberlain, CEO of Bradford Bulls Foundation also commented on the successful event, saying, “We were thrilled to host BEAP and the families for this takeover day. It was inspiring to see so many children getting involved, many for the first time, and enjoying the game. At the Bradford Bulls Foundation, we are committed to fostering a love for rugby and building stronger community ties. We look forward to many more events like this, which bring the sport closer to the hearts of our young fans.”
Parents in attendance also shared their positive experiences.
“This was such a fantastic day for our children,” said parent Anwar Ali. “The excitement of being on the pitch and participating in the activities was something they’ll remember forever. We’re grateful to BEAP and the Bulls for making this possible.”
BEAP has been running weekly rugby sessions in partnership with the Bulls Foundation, with an average of 40 children attending each session. The takeover event represents another step in strengthening this partnership and expanding access to rugby for the local community.
