Plans for a 141-room Hilton Garden Inn hotel at Huddersfield Town’s Accu Stadium have officially been submitted, marking what the club’s owner has described as a “massive next step” in its long-term redevelopment plans.
The proposed development would see a new hotel built alongside the Terriers Together North Stand, subject to planning approval. The scheme would redevelop former Kirklees Active Leisure office space and facilities, creating 141 hotel rooms, including the remodelling of existing premium hospitality areas and 14 match-day boxes. Plans also include a 100-seat restaurant and bar, a glass atrium and a gym for hotel guests.
The club said it has worked with architects to ensure the development benefits both supporters and visitors by creating flexible public spaces that can also be used on match days.
If approved, construction would require the Terriers Together North Stand to close for the entire 2027/28 season.
The club said access to the rest of the stadium, including turnstiles and concourses, would remain unaffected during the works.
Huddersfield Town owner and chairman Kevin Nagle said the planning application was the result of months of preparation.
“I am incredibly excited to announce that we have officially submitted the planning application for our hotel development at the Accu Stadium,” he said.
“We have been working closely with experts to focus on what would benefit not only Huddersfield Town the most, but the town of Huddersfield as well.”
The hotel proposal follows the club’s acquisition of the full 53-acre site surrounding the stadium last year.
Mr Nagle said the project would help transform the stadium into a year-round destination. “This marks the true start of our first stage of development and initial steps toward becoming a real year-round destination and venue, breathing new life and possibilities into the Club and our stadium. This is a massive next step,” he said.
