57-year-old man dead after being hit by car on Leeds Old Road

A 57-year-old man has been killed in a crash on Old Leeds Road this morning.

A 57-year-old man has been killed after being hit by a car on Leeds Old Road in Thornbury this morning.

Officers were called to Leeds Old Road at 6.42am by the Ambulance Service to reports of a vehicle had been in collision with a pedestrian.

It involved a vehicle and a 57-year-old male pedestrian.

The man was rushed to the hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after.

The driver of the vehicle had stopped at the scene following the crash and are helping officers with their investigation.

Officers put in place multiple cordons, including one near the scene of the crash, which took place outside of a row of shops between Thornbury Grove and Thornbury Avenue.

A cordon remained in place at midday, and Leeds Old Road remained closed, at the junction with Killinghall Road.

Police have now launched an appeal for witnesses.

Update: Janaza Announcements have identified the man as Haji Binyamin, son Of Haji Mohammed Sadiq and brother of Mohammed Yasin.
