Nominations have officially opened for the NPH Ethnic Minority Powerlist 2026, as organisers call on communities across the North of England to recognise individuals driving meaningful change.
The annual initiative, led by the NPH Ethnic Minority Business and Policy Forum, has grown significantly since its early years. Initially focused on celebrating achievements within the South Asian community, the Powerlist has since evolved to honour excellence and influence across all ethnic minority communities.
Now firmly established as a platform for recognising leadership, the Powerlist shines a spotlight on individuals whose work is making a tangible difference across Yorkshire and Humberside, the North East, and the North West.
Sharon Jandu OBE, Director of the NPH Ethnic Minority Business and Policy Forum, emphasised that the definition of “power” goes beyond financial success.
She said: “Power doesn’t necessarily mean wealth, it’s about impact. It’s about those who are making a real difference within their communities and shaping the wider ecosystem around them.”
Organisers are encouraging both self-nominations and nominations of others, with a focus on uncovering individuals whose contributions might otherwise go unrecognised.
Sharon added that the Powerlist offers more than just recognition, describing it as an opportunity to elevate voices and create a platform for those leading change across sectors.
“This is about finding and celebrating people who are doing outstanding work, those who are quietly making an impact and helping to build stronger, more inclusive communities,” she said.
With nominations now open, NPH is urging individuals, organisations and community networks to put forward candidates who embody leadership, influence and positive change.
The final Powerlist aims to reflect the diversity, talent and strength of ethnic minority communities across the North, highlighting those who continue to shape the region’s future.
