The cost of applying for a street trading or scrap metal business licence in Bradford is likely to rise next month – but there will be a freeze on the cost of a sex establishment licence.
On Thursday Bradford Council’s Regulatory and Appeals Committee will decide whether to increase how much it charges to apply for a number of different licenses in Bradford.
If approved the cost of the licences will rise from 1 May.
The changes could see the cost of a one day street trading licence rise from £102 to £145, with a seven day licence rising from £479 to £680.
The cost of a licence for a scrap metal dealer site will rise from £361 to £425 and the cost of a scrap metal collector’s licence will rise from £208 to £235.
The cost of applying for a licence for a sex establishment, such as a strip club, sex shop or sex cinema, will be frozen at £2,006, and the licence renewal cost frozen at £698.
A report to members of the committee says: “A costing exercise has been undertaken for each licence type, which takes into account the full cost of administering and processing applications from receipt to issue of a licence and on-going enforcement costs.
“Calculation of costs consists of a full proportional share of overheads including accommodation, telephone, ICT, printing, stationary and postage.
“Staff costs include salary, pension, travel and proportional senior management costs. Legal and central support costs have also been included.”
