Neglected Bradford Council property sold

A derelict Council owned bungalow has sold at auction for more than double the guide price

128 Park Lane, a one bed bungalow described as “vacant and requiring renovation,” went under the hammer at an online property auction today.

The property had a £48,000 guide price.

Any sale came with a big condition attached – any buyer will have to bring the house back into habitable condition within a year or the Council would have the right to buy it back.

The building ended up selling for £102,000 at the Pugh Auction.

Bradford Council has a policy of issuing compulsory purchase notices on long empty properties with a view to bringing them back into use by selling them at auction.

The listing had said: ““The sale is subject to a restriction in favour of the Council whereby the buyer is to renovate the property to a habitable condition for occupation as a dwelling house within a period of 12 months.

“In the event of default, the Council will have the option to buy back the property. The buyer will not be able to sell the property whilst the restriction is in place and up until the restriction has been removed with the Council’s consent.

“During the renovation period, the Buyer is to maintain contact with the Council with regards to progress of works. The Buyer is expected to reasonably co-operate with officers to facilitate site inspections.”
