The land at Roydsdale Way is one of more than 150 Council assets the cash-strapped authority is planning to sell off to help balance its books.
It went under the hammer at an online auction late last month with a guide price of £28,000.
The 3.4 acre site ended up selling for £87,000.
The buyer has not been disclosed.
The auction listing said the plot was for sale “subject to a grazing licence detailing an annual rent of £112”.
It added: “The plot may be suitable for alternative uses, subject to any necessary consents.”
Buyers were advised that a public footpath runs through the land, and that a section contains Japanese Knotweed “which has been treated for several years.”
