Conor Benn defeated Chris Eubank Jr on 15 November 2025 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. It was the first time that Benn had beaten Eubank Jr, with both fighters winning one bout each against one another.
A feud between the Benn and Eubank families started back in 1990, when Chris Eubank Snr faced Nigel Benn for the first time, which took place in Birmingham. Chris Eubank won the first fight, and a second was arranged. In the second fight in 1993 which took place at Old Trafford, the battle was declared a draw.
Fast forward 32 years, and Chris Eubank Snr and Conor Benn’s son were now fighting each other at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. In 2025, there were two fights between the pair, with Eubank Jr winning the first and Benn winning the second.
Post-fight, Benn said, “This is the end of the Eubank Benn saga, I’m done, I’m finished it’s over. I fancy Barrios for the WBC title, Ryan Garcia, Rolando Romero, Devin Haney, all of them Yanks can get it and twice on a Sunday.”
Benn has dropped down in weight following his win vs Eubank Jr to achieve one of his career dreams, which is to hold the Welterweight title.
Now the 29-year-old is eyeing up a title fight against the winner of Ryan Garcia v Mario Barrios. Garcia and Barrios will face each other in Las Vegas next month, with Benn awaiting the winner. He has confirmed he will be at the fight in the USA, saying, “I will be ringside waiting for the winner,” he told Sky Sports.
Conor Benn has been made the mandatory challenger for the WBC belt, which Barrios currently holds and what he is defending next month.
Benn’s trainer, Tony Sims said, “We’re hoping it’s Ryan Garcia next. Obviously the fight with Barrios is 21 February, and Conor is mandatory. Provided Garcia comes through then Conor would be looking to fight him.”
The current WBC Welterweight title holder, Barrios, has had two fights defending his title and has drawn twice. His most recent bout was against Manny Pacquiao in July, which followed on from his draw against Abel Ramos in 2024. Barrios has had 34 fights, with his record currently standing at 29-2-2, while Garcia’s record is 24-2 after 27 fights, with one being a No Contest.
Garcia, who is from Victorville in California, has only won one of his last four fights, with his last outing being a loss against Rolando Romero in New York.
Benn will be watching the highly anticipated fight ringside and is excited by the prospect of facing the winner. The Essex boxer will be hoping that he can fight to win the WBC Welterweight title in the future, achieving a long-held dream of his. He has not had a better opportunity at getting his hands on the prize than right now, but first, he must wait to find out who his opponent is after 21 February.
