Delivery hours changes for supermarket giant

A supermarket giant has been granted permission for night-time deliveries at one of its Bradford stores in a bid to improve stocking levels.

When planning permission for the Tesco on Great Horton Road was granted in 2006, it was on the condition that the store could only receive deliveries to its service yard between 7am and 11pm.

The store recently applied to Bradford Council to change this condition, saying all night deliveries would “help guarantee product availability and makes the store more attractive for customers”.

Tesco’s application included a detailed acoustic report, showing how the store would prevent noise from deliveries disturbing nearby homes.

Planners have now approved the application, saying: “The Environmental Health Officer is satisfied that it has addressed all pertinent noise issues relating to this application.

“The application is supported subject to the condition that the applicant adopts all the recommendations contained with the (acoustic) report.”
