Kirklees Council civic team announced

The Mayor has announced that he will be supporting the Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice during his term as Mayor of Kirklees.

Kirklees Council has officially announced its new civic team for 2022/23.

Councillor Masood Ahmed ceremoniously took office on Wednesday 25 May when current Mayor Councillor Nigel Patrick retired.

Cllr Ahmed has represented the Dewsbury South Ward for almost 16 years. He was elected in 2006. Cllr Ahmed will be joined by his daughter Iram Ahmed as Mayoress.

Cllr Ahmed welcomes invitations to attend engagements and celebrations across the Borough. You can invite the Mayor by completing the online form on Kirklees Council’s website, here.

Cllr Ahmed, said: “Myself and Iram are very much looking forward to visiting and meeting people from the diverse communities across Kirklees.

“It has been a difficult couple of years for everyone but there is very much a feeling of hope and positivity. We aim to have a very busy year and welcome any opportunity to give back to communities.”

Councillor Cahal Burke will join the Civic team as Deputy Mayor.  Cllr Burke, said: “I look forward to taking up my place in the Civic team and working alongside Cllr Ahmed. It is an honour to be selected as this year’s Deputy Mayor.”

The Mayor has chosen to support the Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice during his term as Mayor of Kirklees.
