London’s rising star, Leon Ung, takes Bollywood by storm in blockbuster ‘ANIMAL’ alongside Bollywood icons

From London streets to Bollywood beats: Leon Ung's journey as the young Bobby Deol unveils a fusion of cultures and international flair

In a groundbreaking twist for the British entertainment scene, London’s very own Leon Ung is set to make waves in the Bollywood industry with his starring role in the highly anticipated film, ‘ANIMAL.’ The movie features an A-list ensemble including Bobby Deol, Ranbir Kapoor, Anil Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna, and Tripti Dimri, with Leon stepping into the role of the young Bobby Deol. This marks Leon’s inaugural venture into Bollywood, and he couldn’t be more thrilled.

Living in London with his Indian Mum, Cambodian Dad, and two older brothers, Leon brings a unique blend of cultures and experiences to the silver screen. ‘ANIMAL,’ directed by the renowned Sandeep Reddy Vanga and produced by Bhushan Kumar from T-series films, has already made headlines by taking over the iconic Burj Khalifa in Dubai for its promotional event.

For Leon, the journey began with filming in England during the spring of 2023, and the experience left an indelible mark. Expressing his excitement, Leon shared, “It was an honour to work with Sandeep Reddy Vanga and Bhushan Kumar on Animal. They were so nice to me and we all got on really well. They had faith in my stunt experience and trusted my understanding of the role and acting ability. It was really important to me that I filled the role of young Bobby Deol as best as I could. I think Bobby liked the fact that I was also into fitness and strength training like him.  Sandeep joked with me about my extravagant stunt moves and told me to start learning Hindi! It was such a fun shoot. I can’t wait for the world to see this masterpiece”.

The young actor, who started his career at the age of 7 as a breakdancer in a Sainsbury’s commercial, has quickly risen through the ranks. From starring in the Oscar-winning short film, ‘The Long Goodbye,’ alongside Riz Ahmed, to featuring in major projects like ‘Matilda’ (2022) and the upcoming ‘Snow White’ (2025), Leon has proven his mettle.
Beyond acting, Leon is a multifaceted talent, excelling as a model, breakdancer, martial artist specializing in BJJ, and a skilled drummer. His latest endeavour includes a captivating campaign for EE, showcasing his versatility.

As ‘ANIMAL’ gears up for release on 1 December 2023, Leon Ung stands poised to captivate audiences worldwide. Stay tuned for this rising star’s Bollywood debut, where he brings a fusion of London energy and international flair to the silver screen.
