Detectives have charged a man with attempted murder after a man was seriously assaulted inside the Islamic Centre on Newton Street, Bradford on Monday during Eid prayers.
Fezan Hussain, 26, of Radfield Road, Wyke has been charged with attempted murder and possession of an offensive weapon.
He’s been remanded into custody to appear at Bradford Magistrates today, 4 May.
It’s in relation to the incident inside the Islamic Centre on Newton Street on Monday, 2 May.
On Monday, emergency services were called to the scene at 10.06am and located a male in his 20s with serious injuries from a bladed weapon.
He was taken to the hospital for treatment and is in a critical condition.
Both the victim and suspect had attended separately at the Islamic Centre prior to the attack taking place.
A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police said: “As a man has been charged the Contempt of Court Act is in place and we ask residents to refrain from making comments which could potentially prejudice forthcoming legal proceedings.”
