Trust charity gives thanks to local community for their support

Bradford District Care NHS Foundation Trust’s charity, Better Lives, has a lot to be thankful for this Christmas following the support of the local community over the year to raise vital funds for the work of the Care Trust.

Better Lives is a charitable arm of the Care Trust, who provide mental health, dentistry, community health and specialist learning disability services for patients at every stage of their lives in Bradford, Keighley, Ilkley and Craven.

Fundraising Officer for the Better Lives charity, Helen Verity, said: “Thank you for donating at our supermarket and pantomime bucket collections, taking part in our events and sponsoring friends and family members.”

The generous support of the community has helped to raise vital funds which has enabled the Trust’s palliative care team to purchase new resources and equipment.

The funds have also contributed to a community allotment, therapy rabbits, and specialist equipment for the dementia assessment unit and mental health wards at Airedale Centre for Mental Health.

Helen Verity added: “The community has helped us buy a small Christmas gift for all our hospital patients who require our care and were unable to leave our wards, even for a day at Christmas. Everything we buy and support sits outside the core budgets of the NHS and simply wouldn’t be possible without the generosity of people in the community.”

The Trust charity runs many fundraising activities throughout the year that people from the local communities can come and get involved in.
