With the last pay-per-view (PPV) match of 2021, UFC fight fans will witness one last fight in the lightweight division before calling it a year. From Connor McGregor losing to Dustin Poirier to Michael Chandler losing to Charles Oliveira.
The final PPV sees contender Dustin Poirier take on the current lightweight champion Charles Oliveira for the lightweight crown after Poirier’s recent win.
Many fight fans believe this is going to be both fighters greatest test as both have similar fighting styles. Charles has the most submission wins in the UFC with Dustin Poirier being one of the biggest stars in the division.
The fight is set to take place this Saturday night on BT Sport which aims to start the main event at 4am. Fight fans will be used to these early hours of the morning as UFC events typically take place in the USA.
Both Poirier and Oliveira started their UFC journeys years ago but never crossed each other’s path. Poirier has the chance to claim the gold when fighting now retired former UFC undisputed lightweight champion, Khabib Nurmagomedov. Poirier came up short after losing to Khabib in their fight in Abu-Dhabi.
On the other hand, Oliveira has been a recking ball after beating all his last nine opponents including a fight which nobody thought he would win which was against Tony Fergusson.
Oliveira not only beat Fergusson but defeated him in all aspects of the fight. Whether it was the ground game of Fergusson or in standing. Oliveira beat Fergusson in all aspects of the fight.
Not only is the lightweight title on the line but the woman bantamweight title is up for grabs for the hopeful for Julianna Pena against Amanda Nunes.
In a recent interview with TMZ, Nunes described that Pena was ‘delusional’ in thinking the fight would go to the judges.
Both fights are expected to take place this weekend and fight fans are very much excited to see what happens.
