Watch now: Welcome to Keighley drone video

A team of local people have launched “Welcome to Keighley”, a drone video showcasing the sights in and around Keighley city centre.

A team of locals from Keighley have put together a promotional video for the area filmed on a drone.

Worth Valley Developments, the new owners of the Victoria hotel that is currently undergoing major redevelopment, have sponsored local drone videographers, John Bell and Kyle Riley of Fletchers Stationery to see what they could do to help “sell” Keighley and the Worth Valley to visitors.

Helena Dowsland, marketing consultant for the Victoria project, said: “As locals, we all know the amazing landscapes and buildings in and around Keighley, but we wanted a way to show these off to the wider community. When we saw Visit Bradford’s 4K video, we realised that we could do something similar.”

Helena went on to say that: “The team started planning for the film by drawing up a list of local landmarks and views and knew quickly we were onto a winner as the list was getting long! John and Kyle had their work cut out visiting all the locations and we struggled to keep it under 5 minutes.”

Worth Valley Developments are incorporating a number of holiday lets in the first and second floors of the former hotel in the centre of Keighley and are keen to promote the town to holidaymakers, walkers, cyclists and backpackers. The ground floor will feature a range of independent businesses including a bar with a micro-brewery.

As locals, we all know the amazing landscapes and buildings in and around Keighley, but we wanted a way to show these off to the wider community. When we saw Visit Bradford’s 4K video, we realised that we could do something similar.

The film features many locations including Oakworth station, Hewenden viaduct, Keighley Library, St. John’s church at Ingrow, Penistone Hill Country Park, Bronte Waterfalls, Sutton Pinnacles and Haworth Main Street.

Helena was also keen to point out: “This is not the final version either. Whilst the Victoria is hidden behind scaffolding and hoarding, it isn’t as photogenic as we would like, so John and Kyle will be back to reshoot Cavendish Street and East Parade later in the summer. Follow our social media to see the addition of the new Victoria building once the exterior is ready to welcome visitors to Keighley!”
