Zeera in South Shields is voted Best Indian Restaurant in prestigious awards ceremony.

A South Tyneside restaurant is adding to the growing list of awards winners here in the North-East.

Award-winning Zeera offers the finest gourmet Indian food in opulent contemporary surroundings.

This family business attracts discerning diners from across the region who come to enjoy sumptuous Indian dishes blending ethnic cuisine with a modern and progressive presentational twist. The owners sat they never compromise on taste and service.

Shah Choudhury – Trained front-of-house and is the face of Zeera after having worked at other restaurants in the past. He embarked on a joint venture with his two brothers, Kohinoor, Executive chef and Abadur 2nd chef.  Between the three brothers comes creativity, attention to detail, exceptional service and passion.

Always moving with the times, their creativity ensures diners are always treated to the latest trends enabling them to try a variety of tasty, authentic cuisine. Trading since 2007, in 2012 the venue attracted more customers than it could cater for, so in 2012 it acquired the business next door, which was up for lease. The 42 -eater restaurant then became able to accommodate up to 90 covers at any one time.

Generations of families and loyal customers have enjoyed the special service from this famous multi-award-winning restaurant.

The team of experts from the Luxury Travel awards, which recognises and celebrates ‘excellence’ across all sectors of the travel and tourism industry, have travelled to the restaurants, hotels, airlines and tour operators across the globe in a bid to find the best.

The popular Indian restaurant was also crowned Best Team at the English Curry Awards in and Indian Restaurant of the Year in the Prestige Awards 21/22 in 2021.

The organisers behind the luxury awards added: “The Luxury Travel Guide Awards represent the pinnacle of hospitality, championing the best in their respective fields; therefore, to come out on top is truly an achievement you should be proud of.
