Deontay Wilder explodes in an interview when discussing Tyson Fury

The US boxer fought Tyson Fury in 2020 and 2021, and he got into a heated discussion about the British boxer recently.

Deontay Wilder recently featured on TalkSport, where he appeared on the radio station along with Derek Chisora. Wilder and Chisora will fight against each other on 4 April, a week before Tyson Fury returns to the ring.

Derek Chisora has won his last three fights, while Deontay Wilder’s recent boxing matches have been disappointing for the American…

The 40-year-old last fought in 2025 against Fellow American Tyrell Anthony Herndon, with Wilder winning in round seven by technical knockout. However, has had a bumpy road in the ring over his last six fights, losing four of his bouts. Two of these defeats came against Fury, who has already confirmed he will return to boxing in April, when he takes on Russia’s Arslanbek Makhmudov on 11 April.

During Wilder and Chisora’s appearance on TalkSport, interviewer Simon Jordan started to discuss Tyson Fury, to which Wilder quickly responded with, “I don’t want to talk about him [Tyson Fury], I’m here to talk about Derek Chisora, we’re not going to talk about him [Fury].” He then further added, “We’re not going to talk about him, do you understand? So let’s move on.”

Jordan questioned Wilder on his claims about Fury being ‘a cheat’, and he said: “The biggest in boxing. If somebody’s practicing taking their stuff out of their gloves in training, what do you think they’ll do in the fight?”

The Bronze Bomber was not happy with regards to the comments made from Jordan, and the boxer became animated before walking towards the radio presenter with anger. The 40-year-old began swearing regarding being ‘cheated’ out of a win against Fury, with security guards in the boxer’s proximity to ensure nothing went further.

Meanwhile, Derek Chisora was sat close by watching the drama unfold, not saying anything. Chisora, aged 42, fought nearly a year ago to the day, last time out. His last fight was in February 2025, winning on points against Sweden’s Otto Wallin.

The upcoming fight between Chisora and Wilder could potentially set up a bout later on in the year against Fury. With the feud between Wilder and Britain’s Tyson Fury seemingly continue, a third match between them could be set up later in the year.

If Chisora was to win in April, then he could eye up a fight against the Gypsy King, who defeated the man nicknamed ‘War’ in 2022.

For Fury, a fight against Anthony Joshua which has been sought after by boxing fans for years seems unlikely, the winner of the 4 April fight at the O2 in London could be his next opponent.
