India smash records with back-to-back T20 World Cup glory

Suryakumar’s men storm to historic title defence as New Zealand crushed in explosive final

India have written their name into cricket history after storming to a sensational second consecutive ICC Men’s T20 World Cup title with a commanding victory over New Zealand.

In a final packed with fireworks, big hitting and ruthless bowling, the Men in Blue proved once again why they remain the dominant force in world cricket.

Led by skipper Suryakumar Yadav, India piled on a staggering 255 for 5 after being sent in to bat by New Zealand, a total that left the Black Caps chasing shadows.

It was an all-out batting blitz.

Sanju Samson smashed a blistering 89 off just 46 balls, lighting up the final with eight towering sixes, while Abhishek Sharma exploded with a rapid 52 from only 21 deliveries.

The carnage continued as Ishan Kishan hammered 54 off 25 balls, before Shivam Dube’s unbeaten 26 from eight balls provided a brutal late flourish that pushed India to a mammoth total.

Facing a daunting chase, New Zealand started brightly through Tim Seifert, who blasted 52 from 26 balls, but the momentum quickly shifted as India’s bowlers tightened their grip.

Jasprit Bumrah ripped through the batting line-up with a devastating 4 for 15, while Axar Patel delivered a crucial spell of 3 for 27 to shut the door on the Kiwis.

New Zealand’s resistance crumbled under relentless pressure as India sealed a resounding victory to lift their third T20 World Cup trophy — and, remarkably, become the first team ever to defend the title.

The triumph sparked celebrations across India, with cricket chiefs quick to praise the team’s historic achievement.

ICC Chairman Jay Shah hailed the tournament finale as a landmark moment for global cricket.

“What an incredible finale to the most global and accessible ICC event ever. Congratulations to India, the first team to win back-to-back T20 World Cups. Well done to Suryakumar Yadav, the entire squad and support staff,” he wrote.

BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia also saluted the team’s fearless style of play.

“History created, history rewritten. Heartiest congratulations to skipper Suryakumar Yadav, head coach Gautam Gambhir and every member of Team India. Two back-to-back T20 World Cups is a phenomenal and unprecedented achievement that proves India’s dominance in world cricket.”

With explosive batting, lethal bowling and a squad brimming with confidence, India’s latest triumph confirms one thing beyond doubt — the Men in Blue are setting the pace for the rest of the cricketing world.
