Jarrell Miller, nicknamed ‘The Big Baby’, took on Kinglsey Ibeh on Saturday at Madison Square Garden in New York. Miller won the fight, taking his boxing record to 27-1, but there was a big talking point during the fight.
Ibeh landed numerous punches on Miller, causing the winner’s hairpiece to lift up at the front. At the end of the round, Miller then ripped his hairpiece off before throwing it away in between rounds, completing the fight without his hairpiece on.
The battle went the full distance, and the result was decided by a split-decision, in which Jarrell Miller won. It was his first fight since suffering defeat against Andy Ruiz in 2024, taking a full calendar year out of boxing. The 37-year-old won his first fight since 2023, when he won against Australia’s Lucas Browne.
Miller took a second fight in 2023, which was against Daniel Dubois. The British boxer won the bout in round 10 through a technical knockout, handing the American fighter his first and only career loss to date.
Back in 2019, Miller was scheduled to fight against Anthony Joshua, but with the American failing a drug test, the fight fell through.
Miller vs Ibeh was on the undercard of the main event between Teofimo Lopez vs Shakur Stevenson, with the fight between Lopez and Stevenson being for the WBO super-lightweight title.
Post-fight, Miller found the funny side of the blunder and explained how his hair fell out during the week of the fight, after using strong shampoo. He spoke on the incident by saying: “I get to my mama’s house and I saw shampoo bottles on the table. I shampooed, it was like ammonium bleach. I literally lost my hair two days ago.
So I called my manager and said, ‘get me one of those manes’, and I slapped that on real quick. It’s funny, man. I’m a comedian and you’ve got to make fun of yourself.”
