A Bradford doctor has been selected for a prestigious national leadership programme recognising the next generation of innovators in healthcare.
The renowned Academy of Medical Sciences’ Future Leaders in Innovation, Enterprise and Research (FLIER) programme is designed to develop trailblazers capable of working across academia, industry and the NHS to tackle some of the biggest challenges facing healthcare today.
Consultant in Palliative Care, Jamilla Hussain, will represent Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and the Bradford Institute for Health Research.
Dr Hussain is one of just 19 emerging leaders from across the life sciences sector chosen to take part in the 18-month, cross-sector programme.
The initiative equips participants with the skills and confidence to develop innovative solutions and challenge traditional ways of working across boundaries.
Dr Hussain, from Wakefield, said: “The FLIER programme will provide a unique opportunity for me to step back, learn alongside peers from different sectors and think creatively about how I can use my role as a clinical academic to help tackle health inequalities and ensure care improves for the people who most need it.”
Through FLIER, participants will share insights, build lasting networks and develop their ideas through coaching, workshops and collaboration. By working alongside peers from a range of sectors, they gain new knowledge, skills and connections to take back into their organisations, helping to drive innovation and meaningful change.
Chief Medical Officer, Dr John Bolton, said: “We are incredibly proud of Jamilla Hussain’s selection for the Academy of Medical Sciences’ FLIER programme. It is a well-deserved recognition of her talent, leadership and commitment to improving patient care.”
