Local bookstore, Waterstones, is hosting a late-night soiree to celebrate the history of Bradford through a creative offering from across the district.
The exclusive speakeasy-style event is described by organisers as “70% The Great Gatsby 30% Japanese Jazz Bar and 100% Bradford.”

Featuring cocktails, poetry, and spoken word music at the iconic setting, Wool Exchange Speakeasy, the cathedral-like Waterstones is the place to be on Monday 9 May.
Performers so far include Kirsty Taylor Bradford, Sharena Lee Satti, Tahera Mayat, Hassan Fazane Khan, and the band Melosa Jazz plus more local poets to be confirmed.
This event is a perfect way to share the UK’s most beautiful bookshop and reveal Bradford’s Best Kept Secret.
Head of Cultural Partnerships at Bradford Council Nicola Greenan, speaking about the setting for the event, said, “We’re justifiably proud of the Wool Exchange, it’s full of Bradford’s history, heritage and character. We want to showcase this to the world. It’s Bradford’s Best Kept Secret.”
The FREE event will be hosted by the iconic Waterstones book shop between 7-9 pm.
