A candidate from West Yorkshire has made it through to the semi-finals of The Apprentice.
Harpreet Kaur, 30, is in the running for an investment of £250,000 from Lord Alan Sugar in her dessert parlour business after successfully making it through a shock double elimination in last week’s episode.
In its 16th season, Ms Kaur is competing with three other businesswomen who have survived the chop in previous weeks for the grand prize.

For the first time in the show’s history, the semi-final will comprise of all women, with Brittany Carter, Kathryn Louise Burn and Stephanie Affleck, also competing for the prize money.
Ms Kaur currently owns a six-figure coffee and cake business, which she hopes to “level up” with Lord Sugar’s backing.
Speaking before the show aired, she said: “I’m definitely not in business to make friends. I’m here to make money, and I’m pretty sure Lord Sugar isn’t looking for a new mate.”
Ms Kaur comes from a family of entrepreneurs, with her parents, Jas and Pete setting up Waring Green Stores in Brighouse, Calderdale, in 2002, after moving to the area.
The entrepreneur attended Hipperholme and Lightcliffe High School and Huddersfield New College before starting a degree at Leeds University. Keen to kickstart her career, she began working or Barclays at 19, and finished her degree via The Open University.
The businesswoman worked her way up to become manager of a branch of HSBC before teaming up with her sister, Gurvinder, to open a dessert parlour in Huddersfield in 2018. called Barni’s Desserts, expanding to the White Rose Shopping Centre in Leeds.
The dessert restaurent offers a menu packed full of a variety of sweet and tasty desserts, from crepes to waffles, sundaes and chocolate on tap.
Barni’s Desserts is currently undergoing a rebrand which is expected to launch soon after the finale of the Apprentice. The business also offers a selection of sweet goodies that are available online to purchase.
The final episode of The Apprentice will air on Thursday, 24 March 2022.
