£90,000 guide price for council land generating £9,000 a year

A plot of council-owned land in Shipley which generates £9,000 a year from advertising is set to be sold at auction.

The site, off Otley Road, is home to a number of advertising hoardings and will go under the hammer in an online auction on August 24 with a guide price of £90,000.

The land is the latest council-owned asset to be put up for sale as Bradford Council continues to review and dispose of parts of its property portfolio.

Auctioneers BTG Eddisons describe the plot as an “income-producing advertising hoarding site located in Shipley town centre”.

According to the listing, the freehold site currently generates £9,000 a year through an advertising licence.

It states: “The freehold site generates £9,000 per annum via a licence which is currently holding over.

“The plot extends to approximately 0.17 hectares (0.43 acres) and fronts Otley Road (A6038) which runs through Shipley town centre and joins the A650.”

The site is close to a number of major retailers, including Lidl, Home Bargains, Wickes and B&M.

At its £90,000 guide price, the existing advertising income is equivalent to 10 per cent of the property’s guide value each year.

The online auction is due to take place on August 24.
