Six parks across the Bradford district have retained their prestigious Green Flag status, securing recognition as some of the best managed green spaces in the country.
Central Park in Haworth, Cliffe Castle Park in Keighley, Harold Park in Low Moor, Lister Park in Manningham, Peel Park in Bolton and Undercliffe, and Roberts Park in Saltaire have all retained the award. Cliffe Castle Park also received Green Heritage Site accreditation, recognising the management and conservation of its historic features.
The announcement comes as Green Flag celebrates its 30th year as the international benchmark for parks and green spaces.
This year, a record 2,391 parks and green spaces across the UK received the award, which is administered by environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy. Several of the Bradford parks recognised are among the district’s most popular visitor attractions and community spaces.
Cllr Ian Walker, Bradford Council’s Portfolio Holder for Neighbourhoods and Communities, praised the teams and volunteers responsible for maintaining the parks.
He said: “Once again our fantastic parks and green spaces have triumphed with seven awards. This is all down to the hard work and commitment of our Parks and Green Spaces Teams, Friends Of groups and dedicated volunteers who work tirelessly through the year to maintain these spaces. Congratulations to everyone involved.”
Paul Todd MBE, Green Flag Award Manager at Keep Britain Tidy, said parks play a vital role in supporting communities, wellbeing and local economies. He added that Bradford’s parks demonstrated what could be achieved when green spaces are properly managed and supported.
The recognition comes just months after Bradford Council allocated £300,000 in its 2026/27 budget for improvement works across a number of parks.
Among the planned projects are repairs and upgrades to the boardwalk at Lister Park’s boating lake, aimed at improving visitor access and helping restore boat hire facilities.
The council has said officers are currently seeking the permissions required before work can begin, with construction expected to take place later this year.
