A West London councillor is facing scrutiny over whether he should have declared his role as director of three companies while chairing a key Hounslow Council committee.
Labour councillor Farhaan Rehman, who represents the Hounslow area, resigned from the positions in January. He insists he never financially benefited from any of the companies and believed there was no requirement to declare the roles.
Companies House records show Cllr Rehman was a director of TW3 Services Ltd, Fafr Properties Ltd and Eminence Investments Ltd, all connected to real estate. Two of the businesses were dissolved in 2025, while Eminence Investments remains listed as active.
At the time he chaired Hounslow’s Licensing Committee, his publicly recorded interests only listed membership of a local mosque and the GMB Union. His register has since been updated to include an interest in land, but none of the directorships have ever been recorded.
Hounslow Council’s constitution requires councillors to declare financial interests and register other personal interests, including unpaid directorships.
Hounslow Labour says Cllr Rehman complied with the rules. A spokesperson said the companies “never became active beyond registration” and that Cllr Rehman “never undertook any work and did not benefit financially” before stepping down in January.
They added: “He does not have a job outside of his role as a councillor and currently lives with his parents.”
However, Conservative councillors have demanded a full investigation, arguing transparency is essential, particularly for someone leading the Licensing Committee.

Cllr Jack Emsley said: “Residents will rightly feel this excuse ‘doesn’t wash’, and his position is now untenable. The council must investigate his failure to declare interests.”
The row comes weeks after Cllr Rehman resigned as Licensing Committee chair following reports that a Lamborghini he was driving had twice been parked in disabled bays outside the civic centre without a valid blue badge.
It is understood the Conservative group has submitted a formal complaint to the Deputy Monitoring Officer over the undeclared directorships. The complaint is currently under assessment.
Hounslow Council said: “Any alleged breach of the Code of Conduct will be reviewed and appropriate measures taken if necessary.”
Cllr Rehman did not respond to requests for comment.
