Pupils at Lilycroft Primary School were given a powerful lesson in ambition, resilience and determination when world boxing champion Tasif Khan visited the school to share his remarkable journey from the streets of Manningham to the world stage.
The Bradford-born boxer spoke candidly about the challenges and opportunities he encountered on his path to success, encouraging pupils to believe in themselves, work hard and never lose sight of their goals.
Drawing on his own experiences growing up locally, Tasif highlighted the importance of education, discipline and perseverance, reminding pupils that success is built through dedication both inside and outside the classroom.
A British-born Pakistani professional boxer, Khan discovered his passion for the sport at the age of 10 and has since established himself as one of Bradford’s most decorated fighters. His achievements include becoming Super Flyweight World Champion with the World Boxing Union and Global Boxing Union, Bantamweight World Champion with the World Boxing Confederation, and International Masters Champion.
Throughout the visit, pupils listened intently as Tasif reflected on the sacrifices and commitment required to reach the top of his sport, while also stressing the value of making positive choices and striving to be the best version of themselves.
Leah Florence, Headteacher at Lilycroft Primary School, said: “Tasif is an incredible role model and a fantastic example of what can be
achieved through determination, hard work and self-belief.
“Our pupils were fascinated by his journey and the dedication it took to become a world champion. The highlight for many was seeing his championship belts up close – and even getting the chance to hold them.
“We are incredibly grateful to Tasif for taking the time to visit us, give back to his community and inspire the next generation to aim high and follow their dreams.”
